The Women of Sugarmill Woods (WSM) is a 501(c)(3) public charity organization.  Incorporated in 1986, WSW has grown into one of the largest fundraising organizations in Citrus County.  As a result we have been able to donate nearly $1,000,000 to local charities and scholarships.  We are a fellowship of women who enjoy each other through our monthly luncheons and intra-club activities such as book clubs, cards, craft groups and mahjong.  Members are residents of Sugarmill Woods and associate members who live outside Sugarmill Woods.

The WSW holds two major fundraisers each year:  a Fashion Show in November and a Golf Tournament in February.  In addition we hold several "soft" fundraisers during the year. Taking months to plan, these events provide another opportunity for the members to come together, to get to know each other and to work side-by-side to fulfill the pledge of our founding mothers to enhance the quality of life in our community.  100% of the proceeds from our "School-astic" Golf Tournament are directed to our scholarships.   Selected students are honored at our April Luncheon.  In  addition, we provide a $4,000 scholarship through the Take Stock in Children program, a grant to Withlacoochee Technical College and program support for Homosassa Elementary School.

Proceeds from all other fundraisers are divided between scholarships and various charitable organizations in Citrus County.  Organizations can apply for funds by letter to WSW Director of Community Services.  Recipients are determined annually by our Community Services Committee and presented at our May Luncheon.  We are proud that over the years we have helped the Homosassa Public Library, We Care Food Pantry, PATH, Camp E Nini Hassee, Jessie's Place, Citrus County Blessings, The Salvation Army, Sanctuary and the Grace House, Healthy Families Citrus, CASA and Hospice.

The WSW are grateful to and dependent on the support of the Citrus County business community through their becoming sponsors or patrons of our fundraising events.  We appreciate the support of all who attend and support our events throughout the year!  Watch the local papers for information about what is coming up!
